Stephen M. Young
Stephen M. Young, Esq. joined Hampton & Pigott LLP as an associate in 2013. Mr. Young is licensed to practice before all Colorado County and District courts, the Colorado Court of Appeals, and the Colorado Supreme Court. Mr. Young’s practice focuses on personal injury, estate planning, land-use planning, mining law, and mediation and restorative justice. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
Prior to joining Hampton & Pigott LLP, Mr. Young worked for a well-known personal injury firm building client cases, discussing options with clients, negotiating settlements, and ensuring that his clients were getting the best results possible. Prior to doing personal injury, Mr. Young worked with a publicly held corporation, a federal government agency, and several non-profits to help the mining industry achieve safety goals with a focus on understanding, defining and achieving sustainable development in the sector.
Mr. Young earned his law degree from the University of Colorado. He holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Philosophy from Colorado State University where he studied ethics and meta-ethics. He also holds Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Philosophy and Music from Bucknell University.
In his spare time, Mr. Young teaches piano lessons, bikes, and runs Colorado’s beautiful trails. He continues to train and race ultra-marathons, including the Leadville 100.
Mr. Young currently resides in Brisbane, Australia where he continues to work with clients while pursuing a doctorate in mining law.
